The building company was founded in 1955 by Jack William Munnings. As a bricklayer by trade, Jack carried out general building and maintenance works. General building works quickly turned into house building to meet the demand of the times. Always a forward thinking business, the purchase of one of the first mechanical excavators to improve productivity on the housing site in Caister-On-Sea, Norfolk saw the inception of the plant hire business.
From its Great Yarmouth base the building and plant company continued to evolve through the decades under the leadership of Roy, Tony and Michael. By complementing the core building and plant hire businesses with associated companies Hubble & Co. supplying fixings and fastenings, Munnings Supplies for embroidered workwear and ppe to a range of industries and property holding companies J W Munnings Properties and Chartervale Properties that hold a portfolio of premises for the rental market the family business has the capacity to assist a range of customers. In 2016 the establishment of Munnings Construction Limited saw the building division of J W Munnings Limited move to its current Norwich premises to better serve their customer base. Working closely with J W Munnings for all plant and equipment the company’s ability to adapt to our customer’s needs helps us to maintain the long working relationships we have built over these many years of trading.

2020 has seen significant change in how we all go about our day to day business and we have adapted to make ourselves more agile to accommodate these changes.
